NCA tracking works by air waybill (AWB) number. NCA, short for Nippon Cargo Airlines, is a Japanese cargo airline based at Narita International Airport near Tokyo. It operates scheduled cargo services within Asia and to Europe and North America.

NCA tracking number

Every NCA air waybill number has 11 digits: the prefix 933 and an eight-digit serial number, for example 933-XXXXXXXX. The last digit of the serial is a check digit, so a number with a typing error usually returns no result.

A freight forwarder that consolidates several shipments gives each customer a house air waybill (HAWB) and books the whole load with the airline under one master air waybill (MAWB). NCA tracks the master AWB, so if you have a house waybill, ask the forwarder for the master number.

NCA tracking statuses

NCA reports shipment events with the same standard IATA status codes as other airlines. The most frequent are:

Code	What it means
BKD	Booked: space on the flight is reserved for the shipment.
RCS	Received from shipper: the cargo was accepted at the departure terminal and is ready for carriage.
MAN	Manifested: the shipment is listed on the flight manifest.
DEP	Departed: the flight carrying the cargo has left the airport.
ARR	Arrived: the flight has landed at a transit or destination airport.
RCF	Received from flight: the cargo was unloaded and checked in at the cargo terminal.
NFD	Notified for delivery: the consignee or their agent has been told the cargo is ready for collection.
DLV	Delivered: the cargo was handed over to the consignee or their agent.

Not every shipment shows every code. Transfers, split consignments and customs holds can add other events.

How long does NCA delivery take?

Transit time depends on the route, the flight schedule, the type of cargo and the number of connections. Cargo that transfers at Narita or at another hub spends time on the ground between flights.

Some legs may run by road: NCA operates road feeder services from airports including Hong Kong, Shanghai Pudong, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. After arrival, the consignee or a customs broker clears the goods through customs and collects them from the cargo terminal.

NCA tracking not updating: what to do

Check all 11 digits, starting with the prefix 933.
Allow time after drop-off: the first event appears once the cargo terminal accepts the shipment.
Other companies also use the letters NCA. If your number does not start with 933, it was probably not issued by Nippon Cargo Airlines.
If you have a house waybill from a forwarder, ask the forwarder for the master AWB or for an update.
