Air India Cargo tracking number

An air waybill number has 11 digits: a three-digit airline prefix and an eight-digit serial number. For Air India the prefix is 098, so a full number looks like 098-XXXXXXXX. The last digit of the serial number is a check digit, which is why a number with a typo usually returns no result.

If you shipped through a freight forwarder, you may have received a house air waybill (HAWB) issued by the forwarder. The airline only sees the master air waybill (MAWB) under which the forwarder booked the cargo. Ask the forwarder for the master AWB number to track the shipment here.

How long does Air India Cargo delivery take?

Transit time depends on the route, the number of connections, space on the booked flights and the type of cargo. A shipment on a direct flight reaches the destination terminal soon after departure, while each transfer adds handling time at the transit airport.

Arrival at the destination airport is not the last step. After the NFD status the consignee or their customs broker still has to complete customs clearance and collect the cargo from the terminal, so plan for the time this takes at the destination.

• Wait a few hours after drop-off: the first event appears only when the terminal accepts the cargo.
